This Kenyan Kamuyu Micro-lot guarantees you a bright coffee with notes of citrus fruits and a long finish on the palate...
The Kamuyu region is located on the southern slope of Mount Kenya at an altitude of 1700 meters. It benefits from a rich volcanic soil that imparts a vivid character with striking notes of citrus fruits to this exceptional coffee. The Mutheka cooperative is organized around small coffee producers that use this “coffee factory” for the preparation of their coffee (washing and pulping). Kamuyu is situated in the district of Nyeri on the southern side of the famous Mount Kenya. The closest city, Karatina, is 2 km away. With a population density of around 800 inhabitants per square km, the local population mainly originated from the Kikuyu tribe. Kamuyu is in fact a Kikuyu word describing a “clan” that occupies this land. In early times, the citizens of Othaya identified this population as wizards and decided to drive them out of their lands because of practicing magic.
