Tea Forte's African Solstice infusion contains elderberries and blueberries, which add a fruity depth to this Rooibos red tea. They are also rich in antioxidants. Ruby red rosehips add an attractive balance of acidity and sweetness and are also rich in vitamin C, one of the safest and most effective nutrients for immune support. Tea Forte Rooibos has a full-bodied flavour that combines milk and sugar like a caffeine-free tea for breakfast. Similarly, vanilla and berry notes add a touch of sweetness that can be enjoyed after dinner or for an afternoon tea-time. Much less tannic than tea, rooibos is very mild for sensitive stomachs, and can be enjoyed easily with or without food. African tea forte solstice goes very well with rich flavours such as caramel, meat and cheese. Afrikaans or "red bush" or Rooibos comes from the Aspalathus Linearis plant, which grows only in the Cederberg region of Cape Town in South Africa. Rooibos has been consumed by the Bushmen as a herbal remedy for centuries, but rooibos as we know it is a relatively recent invention. Keemun black tea production techniques were imported from China and applied to rooibos in the early 20th century. A difficult plant to cultivate, Aspalathus Linearis cultivation techniques were only mastered in the 1930s. From 1950 onwards, rooibos consumption became widespread in South Africa, partly because of beliefs that it can help prevent colic in babies. Generally consumed with milk and sugar in South Africa, rooibos has quickly become popular in Europe and North America over the past ten or twenty years, where it is often drunk plain, without addition.
